Hello. We are planning a trip April 14-16 2023 and staying at the Bar 10 Ranch. Our group wants to ride our UTV to Tuweep overlook on the 15 th. Our group will have 6 side by side total of 11 people. I am confused what we need as far as passes.
Do you only allow so many visitors a day and can we buy permits at the ranger station if it’s manned and open. Also is an UTV considered a private vehicle ? Also is it reservations only just to visit.
It’s an amazing place that has a very sensitive environment with the crusty black cryptobiotic soil. “Some life forms, like the crusty black cryptobiotic soil, are rare and sensitive. Please avoid stepping on these fragile living organisms.”

They only allow a certain number of visitors up there, so you need to get a pass.
